Before I post any articles, reviews, etc. on here, I thought I would just start by thanking anyone who has stopped by here and is taking the time to read what I have written. I appreciate it a great deal, and hope you find it interesting or entertaining to read what I have to say.
I also wanted to say something in advance about the way I view music, films, and other forms of arts and entertainment. Personally, I think that any work should be judged on its own merits, and to do otherwise to place ourselves and unrealistic expectations on what has been made. Every song should have a purpose, as should every album, and as should every film, but it is not fair to the work to say the creator should have made a different goal for their work. What is fair is to analyze what a work is telling us is its purpose, itself, and then judge it based on how well it fulfilled its purpose.
By having this mindset, I will say that most of what I write here will have this standard in mind. Certainly, I have my own personal preferences and some universal qualities of music do still exist (I will bring those up in more detail as the need arises), but I thought I would make this statement right off the bat to make sure everything was clear immediately.
With all that being said, welcome to Sound Judgement; I wish this will be a worthwhile venture for all of us as writers, as readers, and as listeners of great (and sometimes not so great) music.
